Jewish high schools have played an important role in America for nearly a century. With large influxes of Jews immigrating from war stricken Europe in the 1900’s Jewish education became a priority for many Jewish immigrants. With this need for Jewish educations many brave individuals took charge in attempting to create a  Jewish schools that both taught both Judaic and secular Studies that would allow Jewish youth to thrive both professionally and as an observant Jew. With New York containing the largest portion of Jews in America it became a prime location for the foundation Jewish educational institutions to try flourish. With this drive YUHSB/MTA was born in 1916 being the first Jewish high school in America. Sadly however due to several political and economic changes over the years MTA has to keep it’s doors open. In order to insure that MTA does not close it’s door in the future it is important to understand what it has accomplished over it’s long life and how it is overcoming the struggles it is currently going through.
