About the Course

Jan 29th, 2011 by Kim Rybacki

Developmental theorizing that already knows the endpoint, preset at the outset of growth, is not actually a developmental theory

(Harris, 2009)

Overview

This course will include an intensive study of the principles of human development from birth to young adulthood. Throughout the course, we will analyze and discuss some of the theoretical approaches to human development – including social learning, evolutionary, constructivist, information processing, sociocultural, and systems theories. Emphasis will be placed on the “big questions” of developmental psychology in order to use childhood and adolescence as a window for understanding humanity more broadly.
