My name is Eloydis Martinez and I am originally from the Dominican Republic. I am currently attending Baruch College and majoring in accounting because I love numbers ever since I was little. When I first came to college all I was thinking about was getting my degree and getting a job without realizing that college is more than a degree. College is about making connections with people and making sure that what you decided to study in fact is what you would really be interested in doing as a career. Currently I am working as a customer service representative at U-Haul which has helped me develop my skills in management, technical automotive knowledge of the industry and teamwork. Right now, as a U-Haul group leader, I make sure to assign work fairly among the employees so that everyone has about the same amount of work to do in a day and help them manage their time effectively. At this moment, my experience living in two countries, language skills, and work experience have made my education come to life as I now see future business opportunities. Learning to become a better leader by just making everyone feel welcome and comfortable in their work area is important as I now see while helping out my dad in his business. In the future, I will be able to open my own business and have awesome interactions with my clients and employees without making them unnecessarily aggravated while they work. Employee satisfaction is paramount to customer satisfaction and that is my approach as a manager, human first.
