Remix Manifesto

The remixes that were made in the documentary were interesting and I never really heard of them before. It is also interesting how copyright was back then and even then copyright is still a thing for how songs should be in videos on YouTube. However, it brings questions on how DJing works and even EDM because they make beats with lyrics from songs to make their remixes to promote to others. I agree that “the past always tries to control the future,” but only through how the company reacts to how music is being downloaded and reused for copyright. Even then, it’s more of how the person is using the music. Some reuse music and name it their own, even though it is from another artist. Which is why it is hard to give freedom in this case. For example, if you put yourself in their shoes, you made a song and someone else just took it and remixed it, but put their name and gave you no credit, then I would sue. I guess with credit, it would be best to know that at least you had some acknowledgment. However, I wouldn’t stop someone from using songs to create their own remixes too. I think it’s pretty unique as well and it even adds a touch to the music made and have it to be heard and many different ways for many other people to enjoy it. I still feel unsure of how to feel about it, it’s a mixture of how something is considered “copyright”.
