BIOGRAPHICAL INFO

I have taught college courses in writing, communication, and reading for seven years at multiple institutions in northwest Ohio. This is my first semester teaching for Baruch.

I’ve taken face-to-face and online courses in various forms as a student in my undergraduate, graduate, and PhD work too so I understand the challenges of being a student and balancing multiple commitments. I was a first-generation college student and the first member of my family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.

I live in Fostoria, Ohio in a little house that belonged to my grandmother, with my husband, our two-and-a-half-year old son, seven-month old daughter, and three rambunctious cats, Furby, Finn, and Tiny Tina (named after the Borderlands character).

WHEN I’M NOT TEACHING

I love to read (fiction, nonfiction, novels, graphic novels/comics, poetry, and anything else I can get my hands on). I’m obsessive about keeping my Goodreads account updated. I’m always taking new book recommendations, so if you have a book you think everyone should read let me know!

I play a weekly D&D game with a set of friends over Roll20. We used to play face-to-face (in the beforetimes!) but then one set of friends moved out of state, the pandemic happened, and we’ve started playing online instead. My current character is a Fungorian (homebrew mushroom race) Gloom Stalker Ranger.

When I can I also play games–video games and board games–with my husband. Some of our current favorites are Stardew Valley, Kings in the Corner, and Seasons.
