Hi everyone! My name is Mariaelena Farina and I’m eighteen years old. I am currently finishing up my first semester of my freshman year at Baruch College. I was born in Brooklyn in 1997 to a British mother and Spanish father. One year after I was born we decided to move to the south of Spain to a place called Malaga in order to be closer to my father’s family in the north, Galicia. We lived there quite happily for eight years while i went to an elementary school called Sunny View where i was able to learn both English and Spanish.

When I was nine, my parents and I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic, a small island in the Caribbean. We fell in love with the place. Two months later we had sold our house in Spain and moved to our little piece of paradise. In the DR I went to middle and high school at the International School of Sosua. We lived a tropical lifestyle and my weekends and afternoons were spent at the beach. Once I hit twelfth grade I realized that it was time to grow up and move on to bigger things.

In August of 2015 I moved to New York City. So far I love it here, though it has taken a lot of getting used to. The lifestyles could simply not be any more different. I missed my parents, boyfriend, and friends, but I have adjusted to life in the Big Apple. Now that I have shared a little bit about my background, I hope you enjoy reading through the rest of my blog.
