Cup Ramen Noodles
Ingridients:
-Cup Noodles ( all found in stores and supermarkets )
-Garlic powder
-Onion powder
–Paprika
–Salt
–pepper
-Cayenne pepper
–Hot sauce ( Optional )
Instructions:
Place a pot of water into the stove on high tempature and let the water boil. While you wait add the seasonings into the cup noodles. The order does not matter. The measurements in which needed to add the seasonings fully depends on you. If you want your noodles to have a little bit more of a garlicy flavor add more garlic powder. Want it more salty? Add more salt. Like it spicy? Add more paprika, cayenne pepper and throw in a little bit of hot sauce or a lot, fully up to you. After add the boiling water to the cup of noodles up until you see the lining on the cup. Then cover the cup for about 3 minutes and stir for 2 so that the noodles and water can soak up all the flavor you just added. After it has cooled down a little you are free to enjoy your food.
Personal Connection:
The reason for this plain and random dish is because it is one of my go to struggle meals. What I mean by struggle meal is basically when Mom or who ever cooks in the house doesnt feel like cooking, and there’s nothing else to eat at home. On top of that there’s no money in your pocket to get outdoor food so you’re damn near starving. This is when you realize that you have cup noodles sitting there ready to be eaten. If you’re questioning the need for so many seasoning for a simple cup of noodles, it’s because it simply needs more flavor. Adding the “extra” seasoning plays a role in tricking your brain that you’re eating more and therefore the dish is more fulling and you’re no longer starving. There is also an alternative way to prepare this dish. Instead of boiling water, you can add all the seasonings to the cup, then add regular water and place it in the microwave for about 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Even tho on the cup it says “Do Not Microwave” it seems to get the job done just fine. I’ve never noticed a difference in taste between microwaved cup noodles and actual boiled water cup noodles probably because I was starving and just wanted to eat, but those are two ways on how I make cup ramen noodles.
I like how you made a simple food more interesting by putting your own twist on it. As a person who eats Cup noodles often I can understand that over time it flavors get boring and you’d want to add flavors to change it up. Seeing your ingredients I now wonder what those ingredients made it taste like. I’ve personally also add many things Cup noodles to change up the taste or texture so this was a interesting new idea.
I like how you make a simple boring dish such as cup noodles and make it into something that actually sounds pretty tasty. Cup noodles don’t really have that much flavour in my opinion, so adding spices to it definitely transforms the cup noodle into something enjoyable. This recipe genuinely sparked an idea in my head. I’m going to start putting in different herbs and spices to see how much of a difference I can make. I usually only eat cup noodles when I’m lazy or if there isn’t anything else to eat. But now, I’m probably going to eat it once a week.
I liked the honesty that came with Argenise’s prompt in labeling cup noodles as a “struggle meal” because I can really relate to the need to find a cheap, quick, and filling meal. This is especially relevant now since we’re in college and supposed to be more independent from our parents. I also liked that, similar to Alvin’s recipe, Argenise experimented with different seasonings and spices in his cup noodles and went beyond the instructions/recipe on the cup noodles. However, I would warn you against microwaving certain cup noodles that say “Do Not Microwave” because some cup noodle materials are built differently than others. So the ones that said “Do Not Microwave” are the ones where plastic and harmful chemicals can leach into your food when you microwave it. But aside from that, what cup noodle brands do you eat?
