We’re in a time where technology is evolving everyday as we sleep, eat, and go on with our lives. We are also surrounded by technology at all times of the day. This has allowed humans to live a life where everything is extremely convenient. Whether it is traveling, communicating, or daily activities. We now have cars, trains, and buses that allow us to get from place to place much quicker (unlike how our parents used to get to school). We have microwaves and stoves that can cook or heat up our food within 30 seconds. Lastly, the most important piece of technology we now have is our smartphones.
When we have our smartphones, we feel as if we feel safe. If we get lost, we have Google maps, which makes everything easier compared to if we had to use a physical map. Or we can contact our parents or friends if we planned on meeting up with them. This leads to another positive point about having a smartphone: we are able to communicate with anyone we want. Texts are sent and received in a second. We don’t have to write out anything and send it through the mail. If one does not know another’s phone number, they can easily be found on the numerous social media platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat. Not only are texts being sent now, but so are pictures and gifs. They are sometimes able to help express what we are feeling or trying to portray. We also now commonly use slangs. They can be inside jokes as well as abbreviations. However does using abbreviations and pictures to portray how we feel make us dumb? Are we not able to use words to express our thought? Are we too lazy to type out full words? Personally, I use caps to emphasize certain feelings instead of using abbreviations such as “lmao” or “lol”. Of course we only use gifs and abbreviations when we’re talking to friends or family. When we are communicating with a higher authoritative figure, we are formal, use different phrases, and address them politely. Everything is spelled correctly and grammatically correct.
We naturally communicate differently with different people. The process of knowing to be formal or informal towards a specific person happens naturally to us. So are we really getting lazier or are we getting smarter and training our brains to become faster as technology becomes even quicker?

Your blog post is very well written. I liked how you introduced the topic by providing examples of technology that we use in our everyday lives. It transitioned very nicely into the question of whether are humans are becoming lazier or more efficient with the assistance of technology. In my opinion, I believe that we are becoming faster more so than we are getting lazier. As you mention, we do take shortcuts to complete certain tasks for convenience, though I feel that that is an adaptive part of many lifestyles. The implementation of technology has made our lifestyles faster which in turn has also “trained” us to become faster.
