For my digital literacy narrative, I would like to introduce how I had my first technological device back when I was in 2nd grade and from there how I started getting more devices starting from a phone to computer, etc. Leading to creating accounts on platforms starting off on facebook to instagram to snapchat.
Then I would go on to describe how these platforms followed me throughout the years and how imessage was my main platform since I had the contacts of all my friends and how we had a group chat where we started messaging each other from class time to our free time. In addition how this platform did not only work as a form of communication but we sent “vlogs” of how our day was going in our time at school and while attending other outside activities. To sending memes and using all the features imessage allows us to use. In addition how this was a way of communicating through the pandemic. Also how during the pandemic imessage turned out to be not the only platform of usage in my life, the other platforms included google classroom, google meet, and all the other google apps.
However, my knowledge of different platforms has increased as I now am attending college. I am now using from discord, to the apps microsoft 365 offers, zoom, messenger, and whatsapp. Now that I am presented with various platforms at the same time I am overwhelmed by how these apps work. Even though its been few months into the semester, Im still having difficulties trying to understand these platforms (even made errors which I now know how to avoid them or somewhat). Even though I now know that these platforms have a way of letting more people communicate with each other and have accessible a lot of features for interactions.
Ending it off stating how it started from just hardware knowledge, to certain platforms introduced prior and during the pandemic to now in college still learning about the various platforms and learning from them through mistakes.

I like the idea of incorporating actual skills you developed on different platforms as you aged with technology. It blemishes the negative narrative that the Internet makes us lazier, instead more efficient

I agree with you about the challenge of getting accustomed to so many platforms for school communication purposes. I think your story sounds very interesting, and I would genuinely want to read about your progression with digital literacy. It all started off so small and futile, especially since we are the transitory generation between basic and advanced technologies.

America,
I really like your preliminary thoughts for your digital literacy narrative! I think it’s interesting, and will read very well, that you plan to discuss your relationships with digital platforms spanning from second grade to the present day. You already touched upon this in your blog post but I look forward to seeing what you have to say about how your relationship and knowledge with digital mediums changed as you grew up.

I like the part where you talk about how digital communication during the pandemic was important to you personally. I can definitely relate to this since certain apps such as zoom and snapchat became really important during the pandemic since they led to the start of my main friend group.
