After reviewing my free-writes reflecting on Citizen Four and Internet’s Own Boy, I have decided to expand on my Citizen Four reflection. In this documentary, I felt that there was a lot of information mentioned that I did not know a lot about.
The main idea that I would like to learn more about and expand on is the topic of human rights law. In the documentary, it fascinated me how the human rights lawyers came to help Edward Snowden in his time of need. Before watching the documentary, I did not know what human rights lawyers did. I saw how the lawyers helped Snowden seek asylum in Russia and keep him safe from the American government. To do this, they had to cooperate with the UNHCR, or the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I would also love to research and learn more about the UNHCR and the role the United Nations plays in relocating refugees and “cybercriminals” such as Snowden.
I think this topic stood out to me because of my previous interest in law and the fact that I am curious to learn more about world affairs and politics.

I think what you are doing is perfect and you should honestly continue doing research on this particular topic. There are definitely other examples of “cybercriminals” that we don’t know about, who have been helped out by human rights lawyers and the UNHCR. Moreover, I think you should also continue doing research on this particular topic because you’re extremely passionate about politics and law, consequently, that will help you synthesize and explain much better since you already have some prior knowledge in that field.

Ikroop,
It sounds like you are headed in a very clear in informative direction! It seems like you know the general topics you want to focus on and also have some subtopics/points of departure to covering those broader topics. I also am very interested and law and found the parts of Citizenfour regarding law really fascinating! I think this is a good topic because you will definitely have enough information about human rights lawyers.
