One of the ideas that I had for the Digital Literacy Narrative focuses on my introduction to video games and eventually other online platforms. I started playing a particular PC game in my freshman year of high school, hoping to stay connected with my middle-school friends that were going to other high schools in the city. Through that, I was also introduced to multiple platforms: Skype, Discord, and Twitch. We mainly communicated with each other on Skype and then transitioned over to Discord. Besides learning how to use both of these platforms (particularly Discord), I was also considering talking about how Discord has helped us stay connected through high school, college, and the pandemic. In relation to games, I am also thinking about talking about my experiences in relation to Twitch as an entertainment platform, learning what certain emotes and phrases meant, and personally or helping friends experiment with streaming.

My other idea focuses on my passion for music. Since middle school, I have been uploading covers to certain songs, experimenting with different platforms. I would talk about my journey from Instagram to TikTok to YouTube, my experience with each platform in relation to the image I wanted to portray, and whether that was viable with each. I would also talk about my current ideas and plans for the future. In relation to music, I could also talk about my experience with Spotify.

I’m not sure if I would like to focus on either idea or if it’s possible to combine both focuses in one paper. Though through whatever I decide to do, when writing, I do enjoy having multiple points or ideas connect with each other as pieces or details of the bigger idea, so I hope to be able to attain that through the narrative.
