I would like to blame the amount of time I spent on social media on COVID. Because of all the extra time I had on my hand, I decided to try out platforms such as TikTok. (I would like to believe that I don’t spend as much time as those around me on my phone.) TikTok has taught me many things, one being careful while using social media.
I plan on writing about the different forms of communication on the internet such as Instagram, text messaging, calls etc. I would like to talk about the convenience of these apps as it allows us to talk to whoever we want. However, these apps aren’t perfect as accounts can get hacked and out information can get leaked. Another problem that can occur is when an unknown person is trying to get in contact, but you don’t know them. When it comes to social media and talking to people over the internet, you have really know and analyze who you’re talking to.
I would like to also include different social experiment videos from YouTube that have a deeper meaning. I am not sure how to combine the two, but I do believe that these videos aren’t just pure entertainment. They teach us how to maneuver around online.

I strongly agree with your first paragraph. I think being inside more because of COVID led me to spend more time on my phone and computer. I also never realized how social media has taught me to be more careful when using different platforms.

COVID also has made me become more attached to social media. That also included meeting new people and connecting with them but there’s the part where I actually haven’t met them and this could lead to meeting a dangerous individual, meeting someone that isn’t really them. It’s hard to figure out if the person is real or not especially through the internet and different social media.
