To start off our project, my group and I met over discord and discussed how we would go about improving our chosen Wikipedia article. We practiced splitting up work by splitting the project proposal. We set a deadline for us to complete our work and we regrouped once finishing our work. After finishing the project proposal we decided to go through the religious music article and split the article by subsections. Each of us chose two underdeveloped subtopics to work on. Now, we are collecting sources on our subtopics for the project bibliography.
So far, I have expanded one of the subtopics I have chosen to work on. For this subtopic, Sikh music, I have outlined what I will improve and how I will improve it. I am also working on expanding the subtopic on Shamanic music. I recently found six sources for both my topics. I plan to use these sources over the next couple of weeks to expand the subtopics and expand on the group project. As a group, we need to decide whether or not we will be splitting any other responsibilities.
I am excited about a couple of things going forward. First, I am excited to continue researching religious music. I am interested in the topic and I want to keep learning as much as I can about the music of different religions. I am also excited about working with my group members to contribute to our chosen Wikipedia article. Right now, I am slightly confused about the bibliography. I am not sure what exactly we have to do to complete it. To resolve this confusion, I can discuss the task with my group members and Professor Muhlbauer.
I think this project will help me in many ways. It can help my researching ability and allow me to improve on how I research. In this project, I have had to use the internet and databases to learn about topics that I had never heard of before. This project can also improve my writing and editing skills. Using Wikipedia will make me more comfortable with writing for many reasons. I will have a lot of practice writing and editing the religious music article. I also might improve my writing in order to avoid it getting removed from the article.
