The video I chose is a character analysis of Don Quixote a melodramatic hero Don Quixote is a very courageous person and he has it in his mind that he is going to create his own reality and does not care what anyone else thinks about it. For instance, bringing chivalry back was a completely far-fetched idea but he wanted it and he was going to do it. That’s why in the video there refer to Don Quixote as the 50 years old toddler because he is living in his world completely disconnected from the world as it actually is. I believe that is it is very admirable quality in a person up to a certain extent. Ingenuity describes Don Quixote really well because he finds or manufactures his own solutions to his problems. Don Quixote also has a dark side to him he harms other because of his belief system and he also forces his beliefs on to others. Don Quixote’s main mission in life is to restore knight-errantry in a world lacking chivalric integrity and values. He turns himself into a noble knight-errant through his fantasies or insanity. He sees the world the way he wants to see it which is very different from others and choses to believe what he wants to believe. Don Quixote is a man on a mission. Don Quixote is a product of his ideals which are straining against reality. Trustworthy, honorable, eminent, and visionary, he wants to save the world. He is as mad as he is intelligent. The obstructions of the world, and the psychological and physical humiliations that Quixote must encounter at the hand of his friends, finally obliterate his fantasies. Don Quixote starts out as a ridiculous and lonely character and ends up as a woeful and lovable old man whose courage and wisdom have ruined him.
