Introduction

Hi! My name is Fatima Barrie and I’m a sophomore here at Baruch College. This is my 3rd semester and I’d give my experience overall a 8/10 so far. My hobbies include journaling, watching movies and going out with my friends/siblings. I’ve been really into murder mysterious because I’m curious to how and why they made those decisions to become who they (or society, really) identify as.

I now journal mainly as a way to self reflect. I find it comforting to know I overcame whatever was bothering me and seeing how much I’ve grown compared to before.

Something that made an impression on me was when my sister said something along the lines of life not being worth the constant stress. I feel like as like as you’re trying your best, you can find a solution to everything.

    Hi Fatima!

    I’m Helen your fellow classmate.

I am also a sophomore here at Baruch and this is also my third semester. It is very interesting to me that you’re into murder mysteries since you’re curious to know why they made those decisions. I can relate to this since I am also into murder documentaries. Not only that but when it comes to my personal life and something happens I also wonder what led that person to reach this decision. Before getting upset at a situation I also think about what led to it.

    See you in class!

  2. Hi Fatima!
I’m Kaycie. I love everything that your said in your introduction! First off, I can definitely relate to the point about your liking to spend time with your siblings. I was always raised very close with my siblings and, even though they are younger than me, I love being with them. I think its so important to maintain a strong bond as siblings throughout life, even if you don’t always get along.
What your said about murder mysteries also really stood out to me. I also really love analyzing the reasons behind such actions, which is why I’m majoring psychology. Getting a glimpse at the motives and thought process of a serial killer is something really interesting and the question of nature v. nurture is also very much at play when it comes to things like this.
What your sister said about life not being worth the stress is so accurate! I think sometimes for me its easy to get carried away by overthinking and stressing about all the things I have to do. But in reality, everything will pass and theres no use over stressing about every outcome.
It was awesome reading your introduction Fatima, see you in class!

  3. Hi I’m Yousra. We basically have the same classes this year and from last! I find it very interesting to me that you also enjoy mysterious films and documentaries because I am the same way lol! One of my favorite documentaries or series is on Netflix and is called Criminal Minds. Basically every episode they film, is a new crime series, and I think it is so cool to just see how their minds work, even if they are just acting, it still is very interesting to see how they put bits and pieces together to solve their mysteries.

  4. Hey Fatima, I’m also obsessed with murder mysteries and unsolved crimes. I recommend listening to some podcasts on Spotify, some fascinating cold cases are being solved in real-time.
