Don Quixote

Wisecrack’s Don Quixote – Thug Notes Summary & Analysis takes interprets and summarizes literature from a widely informal position. Of course, the video isn’t meant to possess any formality, nor does it attempt to glamorize the story’s premise in colorful and over complicated words. Instead, it presents itself in a heavily comedic form. Personally, I found summary widely informal. It doesn’t attempt to be academic or bland. It is both direct and entertaining, aspects of a summary that a younger audience may favor. The video’s “thug” presentation is the main reason why it can be noted as entertaining. When elaborating on the story, the host often uses slang and informal dialects in order to summarize and analyze the book. In short, it worked. I didn’t fall asleep or let my mind wander into abyss, as many summaries do. This entertaining style is only complimented by the host’s loud and fierce energy; this can be deemed “dragon energy”, as noted by Kanye West. In reflection, this energy is the reason why I feel most would understand the book, even gravitating towards reading the full book themselves. Imagery is only improved by the video’s implementation of cartoons that are presented in alignment with storyline. Yes, the video is informal and may be deemed annoying by older and more mature audiences. However, if one is in their mid-teens to late-twenties, I feel that the video does its job just as well as a Harvard presentation. The book’s story does not water-down the comedic style and the comedic style does not sacrifice the informational quality of the video. Instead, both aspects of the video are balanced, supplementing each other to create a quirky and energized video. Should you come to this video if you want to know the book’s themes, literary devices, development, symbols and more to the deepest layer? No. Should you come to this video if you want to understand the book and the surface ideas behind it? Yes. Overall, this is a style of analysis and storytelling that I feel can arguably outdo some more formal presentations.
