My best guess of this poem is that the poet might be very weak and he is jealous of the bright star. He hopes himself to be as firm as the star. In his following sentences, he said the bright star never changes no matter what happens. I believe something bad must happen in the poet’s life which the poet cannot control. Those things push the poet to change in a way he does not want. The poet might want to stay the same and maintain unchangeable, but he is in trouble and he is too weak to keep the same. Therefore, he is very jealous of the bright star since the star is unchangeable and it shines every night no matter what happens. From the last few lines, I feel like the poet has a crush on a girl and he wants to be with that girl forever. If he cannot be with the girl, he wants to see that girl every day. Bright star has its lids apart eternally, which means it can see anyone it wants. The poet wants to see the girl he falls love in with every day, so he hopes himself to be a star to see anything he wants.
