Scheduled delivery system (and mobile application)
Our product can be used by anyone who purchases stuff online. If you don’t want your stuff dropped in front of the door because it can be stolen or live in a building with no doorman. A lot of buildings are trying to reduce costs since renters complain about high prices. Therefore, certain buildings for example in NYC no longer have doormen, replaced by electronic security systems. Sometimes you might have something unexpected and therefore not be there for your delivery.
Out of 5 billion retail shipments in the US in 2013, 100 million were failed deliveries. We are offering a solution to this problem. Intermediary between delivery company and receiver.
We are going to focus on big cities first.

I myself have experienced this point of pain and strongly believe its a great and profitable idea to come up with a solution to it!
Exactly!
Profitable, I might need further research and information to know if it is a profitable venture but definitely a solution to an existing problem.
Nice!! One number is more convincing than a thousand words, especially when you have the reference.
If you are going to pursue it in the team project, I would suggest you to do more research on the competition part. Not sure someone else are doing similar things. Also, you listed UPS as your key partner, but they also have the pickup service and “change delivery” service. Do you think that can be count as competition, especially if that is free of charge while your service costs. The same goes to other express delivery companies.
Thanks for the comment. I will try to research even deeply for the numbers.
Yes you are somehow right with UPS. However, I read there are a lot of issues with UPS’ “change delivery” service.
Furthermore, picking up means you still have to find time DURING THE OPENING HOURS to collect your package whereas my service provides late night delivery at home (for example when you come back from work).
From my point of view it is a great idea at least for NYC, since I have experience such a bad delivery services here that never had happened to me at any other city.
Do you think this would work also in other cities/countries?
To be honest, I was thinking of New York only when doing it. So I think in the beginning it will be available only in big American cities (comparable to NYC). All the infrastructure is available already and it is less costly to deliver something in New York than in a rural area in Wyoming.
It wouldn’t make sense to provide this service elsewhere in the introduction phase.
I couldn’t agree more! I don’t know where you came up with the price, but it seems about right. I live in a brownstone with no doorman or security to take care of my packages. I do a lot of online shopping, so I either have to drag my “snakes” down to the post office and wait in line for hours or deal with the possibility that my package might get stolen when stored under the doorsteps. I think it’s a great idea, but as someone already mentioned, it would be a good idea to see who else offers this service. I’m sure UPS and FedEx already have something similar. Is it already in the works?
For FedEx I do not know (need to research) but I know Amazon offers hour package delivery. UPS you can only change the delivery date. But the service is not really reliable.
Great idea! As I’ve said before I would really use this service because I am working all day and there are items, especially large items, I would like to be delivered when I am home. The promotions are a good idea to help build a customer base.
