This is my first post.
I recently read ” Lament for Ignacio Sanchez Mejias” by Federico Garcia Lorca for one of our class readings. When I first read this poem, I didn’t really understand it. I couldn’t tell what was going on in this poem, let alone the purpose of it. However, as we read it over again in class, I began to grow an understanding of Lorca’s poem and grew fond of it. In fact, this poem was one of my favorite texts we have read so far in this class.
According to the dictionary, “Lament” is an “expression of grief.” This poem is Lorca’s expression of his grief over his friend, Ignacio.
Upon reading this poem, I grew curious about the death of Ignacio, and in turn, I wanted to learn more about Federico Garcia Lorca ‘s personal life and how it translates into his writings.
