I really enjoyed characterization, and lighting in Brandon’s video “Papier”. These techniques created a very intimate portrait of the person who’s hands are featured.
The opening scene has a kind of monochromatic color scheme where the only punch of color comes from the hand. This puts importance on the person “behind the camera” and introduces a character.
The bright lighting makes the white paper seem almost reflective, which makes me think of a mirror. Are the blank pages reflecting on the thoughts or personality of the person holding or “reading” the book? The face of the person is never revealed so are we meant to see it in the blank pages.
