Guy Debord describes in his work “The Society Of The Spectacle” how photography has impacted how people think of their outer appearance. One interesting point he elaborates on is how pictures are taking away from the actual moment of life when photos are being taken because the photos are not necessarily the moment but merely an object of that day. Companies are striving for the idea of a “perfect Image” where the editors of the photo can make the photo look so appealing even if it means not looking like the original photo that was taken for example photoshop is a program that allows anybody to do that from anywhere with access to a computer.
Walter Benjamin describes in his work “The Work Of Art In The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction” how making multiple copies of the same object has evolved throughout history with people taking an object and creating a market value for it or simply making nick nacks. Walter Benjamin believes there’s only one aspect of the copy that no copier can achieves and that is ” The time and space” in which the product was created.” The time and space” is referencing the impact is the first ever model had on society during it’s time. Although there are copies of the piece being created, the original still has more value then the copies and could be sold for more.
