Guy Debord’s text is about how images have affected our reality, how media turns reality on its head, meaning that nowadays we can take a picture and edit it to a point where we are unrecognizable. I also couldn’t stop but think about special affects in this case. We watch all this movies in awe that are being polished very well and being added some special effects to it, this were we are losing the sense with reality. I feel that the nature is so full of beautiful places that we probably wouldn’t even need to use the special effect but we need to use it in order to achieve that feeling of satisfaction.
Benjamin’s text was something that I read and I could totally see what he means. Basically, he says that photographs lose its uniqueness after being taken because in a photograph when you look at it, it’s the past, you can’t bring back the time and the feeling that you felt at the very moment. It is beautiful though and maybe looking at it later we can notice something that we didn’t notice before which makes the photograph very useful, but there is nothing better that what a eye can perceive.
