Response to Artifacts.

The artifacts article discusses the major changes in art throughout time with the introduction of technology. Unlike paintings, Digital arts are majorly being accessed through the internet rather than art galleries,  the article states: “Today the majority of image production, dissemination, and commentary takes place online. it strikes me that the best place to go grapple with the digital condition is the not the art gallery, but tumblr, youtube, and even 4chan”. This quote proves that the observation of art is being shifted from a person standing in a gallery to being able to access art from simply their smartphone. The article also discusses how photo arts have been influence our culture such example include people conforming to images which become a reality to them, Daniel Rourke states:” Images have permeated our environments since long time ago. They crosses screen and incarnated: as junkspace, and all sorts of 3D spam. They materialized in form of our own bodies. Images do not represent reality, they create reality”. This quote was very intriguing because people conform to capture the picture perfect image in order to fit in with society. At times people lose self control over an image created in their heads on what they should look like on the exterior, which gives the image power over the person(s).

Response to “The Great Waves”

The Great Waves is an article that discusses the impact that Tumblr had on bloggers and people who found a need to express themselves.” the article states: ” it is a microblogging and social-media service, and allows users to create personalized websites via a collage of photos, videos, music files and textual snippets. Tumblr, like other social-media platforms, is predicated on ‘sharing’ and ‘liking’, and is responsible for a vortex of visual memes.” The world can’t seem to be getting enough of memes nowadays, that when a new opportunity strikes for it can’t seize it with multiple meme’s to keep the social world entertained.
