Immersive Worlds Exhibition (Extra Credit)

I had heard about the Occulus Rift a couple years back and was so excited for the world of immersive technology and its impact on the gaming world. Only a year later, Facebook bought the company. I thought this was a weird move for the social media giant but I knew something big was going to happen with virtual reality and apparently so did they. Upon my visit to the exhibition I had high hopes that the Occulus device would bring me into the future with its amazing technology but I was sadly mistaken. No sound, bad graphics, too many wires, and horrid movement manipulation through an X Box controller. Where did my dreams fail me? At least 10 years ago I visited an arcade that not only had the headset component but a 360 treadmill to traverse and a gun controller to hold, which was pretty awesome. I have to say that was a better experience, with the same graphics. I was looking forward to a rich and crisp 3d world but was sadly disappointed with something that looked like a windows 95 screensaver. However, I was impressed with the cardboard google glass device. Although a 360 photo was used to set the scene, it was realistic and wireless. It is something I would buy in a heartbeat assuming this 360 photo and video will become the next latest trend.
