Baruchian Values

Looking in a student perspective, I think that the overall core values of the students in Baruch includes Education, challenge, quality recognition, and professional growth. Core values is defined by Collins and Porras in their article “Building Your Company’s Vision” as the essential and enduring tenets of an organization that have intrinsic value and importance to those inside the organization. Baruch College operates to become an institution that provides their students a challenging and quality education that is very useful in their student’s professional growth. Baruch students in turn live by Baruch’s core values and apply it in their individual selves. This set of values makes the school unique than any other college.

A student’s envisioned future will include professionalism, personal growth, and integrity among others. Whatever the student learned while in Baruch will have an impact in their future. As a business school, most students will envision the values I’ve listed because it is very important to assure ourselves that we can grow and live up a strong set of values in their professional lives.

I completely agree that a key core value is personal growth. Students at Baruch hope to educate themselves to their full potential to in return share their knowledge and experiences. I enjoyed your comment claiming that, “Baruch College operates to become an institution that provides their students a challenging and quality education that is very useful in student’s professional growth.” We as students shine from the inside out. Baruch is credited as a great education for a great cost. People see Baruch as a good school and even better choice because of what the students reflect from the inside out. And it is in these reflections that we see signs of similar core values.

  2. I believe you hit it to the point. Education, challenge, quality recognition, and professional growth are what defines students at Baruch. These are indeeds core values that most if not all students share which makes the school unique. The environment foster the development of the students who strive for quality in education and are not afraid of the challenge because by pushing yourself to greater limit your education becomes even more valuable.
