Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans – Virtual Information Session
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, we invest in the graduate education of 30 New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture or their academic field. Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in financial support over two years, and they join a lifelong community of New American Fellows.
This spotlight presentation provides an overview of the fellowship and application process, and suggests strategies on making you a competitive applicant. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship
The Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship is a three-year program that provides unprecedented opportunities to remarkable students to further their personal, professional, and cultural potential including paid summer internships and other unique professional experiences in NYC, the U.S. and abroad, and a Discovery Fund for self-designed experiences. Eligible candidates must be in their 1st or 2nd year of undergraduate study. This presentation provides a detailed overview of the JK Watson program, and reviews the competition timeline and major application components. All Baruch First-Year Students, Sophomores, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Foreign Language Study Abroad Funding (Critical Language Scholarships/Boren Scholarships)
Want to learn a foreign language? Want to do it in a fully immersive environment? Wondering how to pay for it?
At this information session, we will explain the different scholarship opportunities for foreign language learning, discuss the application process, talk about preparing a competitive study abroad scholarship application, and give you tips on how to plan ahead—academically, financially and personally. Scholarships that will be highlighted include the David L. Boren Awards for International Study and the U.S. Dept. of State Critical Language Scholarships. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask questions.

Nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships provide opportunities to help students realize their goals. There are fellowships and scholarships to help pay for graduate school; to fund professional development opportunities through internships; to conduct research; to study abroad; and to work for the good of your community. Applying for a prestigious fellowship or scholarship can be a rewarding and valuable experience. Winning the award is the ultimate goal, but the process of applying creates an opportunity for self-discovery and self-definition.

This spotlight presentation provides an overview of fellowships in public service and civic engagement such as the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, the Public Policy & International Affairs Junior Summer Institute Program, and the NYC Urban Fellows Program. There are fellowships and scholarships to help pay for graduate school; to fund professional development opportunities through internships; to volunteer; to teach abroad; and to work for the good of your community. The session offers advice on selecting a fellowship opportunity; and gives suggestions on competition strategies.

Planning to study abroad, but wondering how to pay for it? At this information session, we will examine the different study abroad funding opportunities available. We will discuss the application process, talk about preparing a competitive study abroad scholarship application, and give you tips on how to plan ahead—academically, financially and personally. The study abroad scholarships that will be highlighted include: The Gilman Scholarships and the Freeman-ASIA Awards. This is also a great opportunity for you to ask questions.

Fellowships for Business & Schwarzman Scholars Program – Information Session
Schwarzman Scholars is a highly-selective, fully-funded program designed to prepare future leaders for success in a world where China plays a key global role. It offers a Master’s Degree in Global Affairs (taught in English) at Beijing’s prestigious Tsinghua University.
Other fellowships in business fields include opportunities for professional development, funding for internships, pre-MBA programs, and to fund graduate school. Fellowships that will be highlighted include: Venture for America Fellowships and Fulbright Awards in Business. The event will offer advice on selecting a fellowship opportunity; and suggest strategies on making you a competitive applicant.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program – Information Session
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants in ALL fields of study for graduate study, research projects or English Teaching Assistantships in a country outside the U.S. This spotlight presentation provides a detailed overview of the Fulbright program, discusses the differences between study, research and English Teaching Assistantship grants, offers advice on selecting a Fulbright destination, and reviews the Fulbright competition timeline and major application components.

Prestigious Scholarships for Graduate School – Information Session
Grants for Graduate Study in the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom or Around the World.
We explore the outstanding funding opportunities to pursue a graduate degree in the U.S. and around the world. The presentation focuses on the Knight-Hennessey Graduate Scholarship to Stanford University; the Rhodes Scholarship and the Marshall Scholarship to the UK; and the Mitchell Scholarship to Ireland as well as other funding options for graduate study around the world. The session reviews the purpose, criteria and application process for each of these awards and discusses strategies on how to be a competitive applicant.
