Nature is withering, for fall has come and with the weather and the leafs have changed color and begin to fall off. The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a paradise for nature lovers. Open space to walk in with cobblestone pathways and trails, the importance placed on the beauty of nature is quite evident. On a cold day, the air is crisps which caused my sleep deluded mind to gradually wake up the more I walked. Even though the atmosphere was refreshing, nothing apart from this stood out and then I stumbled into what it seemed like a small exhibition. Three rows of miniature trees made up the composition of the place. Trees smaller than my arm, some with leafs and others without. Like Alice in wonderland, I felt as if I fell into a hole. Their size made them cute, similar to the cuteness of a baby. There were so many and different types too which added to their stature make their authenticity to be questioned. The few people in this room just walked around and occasionally stopped, their arms did not reach out and try to caress the foliage or the branches.
The rocks and pebbles on the ground reinforced the natural beauty of the miniature trees. They juxtaposed the concrete pathway that people were walking on and through this juxtaposition a separation is established. The yellow, green, brown, and grey colors did manage to overcome this separation since the colors created a calm atmosphere because they are not bright enough to be screaming with attention or dark enough to be completely isolated. By the difference in foliage color and the amounts of leafs the miniature trees had a wide representation of the seasons. The name plate next to each miniature tree was extremely small and a person would have to lower their face to read it, so the name was not given as much importance as the actual tree. This allows people to focus on many other things rather than trying to remember the name. Therefore it is meant to be more visually stimulating. People in NYC like to do fun and things that require a lot of energy yet what going to places that are soothing and new things are seen creates stability and releases stress.
