The Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship is seeking a highly creative, talented and self- motivated individual who will be responsible for supporting this campus-wide program. The MakerHub is open to the Baruch College community and provides students, faculty and staff with opportunities to exercise their creativity using technologies such as 3D printers (Makerbot, 3D Systems Cube, Form Labs), scanners, Legos, Cublets, Sparkfun Kits and Makey Makeys, etc.

The ideal individual understands the principles of engineering, design and design thinking and demonstrates a passion and knowledge about the use of technologies to support creative, engaged learning. Working with Baruch faculty, the individual will also be responsible for helping design, document, prep and present original workshops. This position serves as a liason between the Field Center for Entrepreneurship, the MakerHub, Baruch faculty and students. The Makerspace Coordinator will report to Field Center Director.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. In addition to these duties, this position provides access to the maker space and its resources with encouragement for the development, creation, and exhibition of original work.


  1. Partner with faculty leaders in growing maker culture on campus by demonstrating and sharing the value maker technologies.
  2. Assist student and faculty use of equipment and tools, ensure safety, and ensure compliance with the rules and policies of the workspace.
  3. Provide one-on-one and group instruction for students and faculty as needed.
  4. Manage a team of interns and part time employees.
  5. Participates in reviewing, evaluating, consulting on, and approving student projects and, where required, faculty research projects.
  6. Coordinate operations including training seminars, classroom visits and other special events.
  7. Collaborate with faculty and student workers to develop documentation, videos and/or other support materials.
  8. Create protocols for Makerspace equipment.
  9. Organize and maintain workspace and equipment and make recommendations for additional equipment purchases.
  10. Assist with related clubs and other extra-curricular programming (occasional evening commitment as needed).


  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 2+ years facilitating learning experiences and a demonstrated ability providing one-on-one or small group instruction.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Ability to manage and work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.

 Preferred Skills

  • Experience with website content management tools/programs (ex: wordpress)
  • Command of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Familiarity with Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
  • Experience with two or more of the following technologies:
    3D printing, Raspberry Pi or Arduino, digitization or 3D scanning, digital design software, or other related DIY/makerspace technologies
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population
  • Excellent organizational skills – handle and prioritize multiple projects
  • Must ask questions and learn new skills quickly on the job
  • Driven, team player motivated to take responsibility and ensure successful outcomes across activities
