Excel 2013 ISSUES

Excel 2013 ISSUES
By DERRICK ANDERSON

My fellow students, New Perspectives on Microsoft Excel 2010 seems like an excellent textbook for Excel 2010. However I have a new computer and it came with Excel 2013, and so it is a challenge to adjust the 2010 instructions to Excel 2013. I am not sure if anyone else has this problem, but if you do, I am going to use my blog to post solutions and discuss how the work can be done in Excel 2013. I will also like to highlight any issues that are sure to come up with our financial models.

The first major headache I encountered was creating a Combination Chart using the instructions in the Parsons book. When I followed those instructions, both charts change into line charts. I found a solution using Excel Help. When you select Change Chart Type, you have to select the COMBO option in the dialog box. This gives you the option of selecting what type of chart you want for each particular data series.

These are the type of issues I will like to cover on my blog. I am sure there were quite a few problems that you encountered with the model from the Soubeiga book, but that is a different post. I do hope that everyone will contribute in making this a great learning environment. I am not an excel expert by any stretch of the imagination so I am hoping to learn from my peers. So everyone feel free to contribute.
