This was my fourth attempt at attending a personal enrichment workshop and for a second i thought that i was going to end up looking for the next available one, which is what happened the last three times. The last time i tried to show up, i was not able to go into the room because it was full and apparently you needed to have signed up to attend, which i thought, as well as other surprised students, was only required for the career exploration workshops. Regardless, i was careful to not let that happen again so i signed up for this workshop, but when i showed up, that same guy who kicked me out last time, announced that signing up was no longer necessary and the workshop was going to act on a first come first served basis. Why would their be a link to sign up for the workshop on the website if they were not even going to bother checking attendance? That was completely unfair and it cost me a seat. It’s not like i went to do other things before attending the workshop. I went directly their after my first class, which just so happened to conveniently be located on the same floor, but by the time i arrived, there was already a crowd of students waiting to be let in. I thought i was safe since i had signed up, but i was wrong. I ended up having to sit on the floor only because the advisor insisted that we all sit down. Otherwise i would have stayed leaning against the wall and avoided the painful numbness in my leg. The workshop itself was a waste of time. What i did enjoy was listening to some of the students complain about how useless and unnecessary the workshops are and how unfair it is for us freshmen to have to follow this new policy. This one guy even offered to march down to the student life office and protest. I even enjoyed it when the lady said that our comments were making her feel bad about herself. I laughed on the inside. If that guy was able to accomplish anything by going to the office, he will be my hero.
