So the first week of school is over 🙂 ! How was it for everyone ? Was it pleasant, surprising, challenging, any stories you would like to share ?
I’ll begin with mine. It was exciting but pretty tiring at the same time. I say exciting because this semester i am experiencing new paths; one of them is the Freshmen Seminar ;). And tiring because besides having a full day schedule ( from 10:30 am-9:00 pm) i also have to work 3 days per week. But as everything in life, it is always about balance. So as long as the happiness you get from doing something is greater than feeling exhausted, it is worth it 😉 !
Your turn guys !
Also check the “How to write with a knife” article; it is very interesting and helpful. It shows up in the home page of the Blogs.
P.s Guys don’t forget that everything you write here is public and is being viewed by everyone. This is not to scare you away; it is your profile and feel free to share your opinions but also be respectful to others!
hey. sorry i am behind. my first week was ok. a little hectic but still fun. I LOVE that baruch is in the city. i love having school in the city. it makes it a lot more fun as theres sooo much to do. my classes are pretty good, i like my philosophy class and the rest of them with the exception of one (as discussed today in anthropology LOL). the workload is really rough and its so hard to manage time with the schedule that we have. and i work too and dont wanna give up my job. but otherwise its been ok. i guess i have to get in the habit of using the 2 hour breaks for getting ahead in my work (yeah right). i was a little hesitant at first about the whole block thing but its not so bad. its nice and i like our block. the only annoying thing is the lack of break on mondays because of freshman seminar….but we will all have to deal with that somehow. hopefully we can all end up with the 4.0s we all desire and i really hope we all have a successful semester/year.
cant wait to see what the rest of fall ’09 brings to our block!
My first week was a little fast tracked. Between having to figure out what’s what and what’s where, I also had to race all over the place trying to get all the books. And now that I have them, I have to read them… But other than that, I have to say that college was what I expected, lots of reading, lots of writing, and teachers who actually know how to teach for the most part, with one exception for me. Since it was only the first week, I didnt get too many real lectures, but I’m hoping that they’re gonna be interesting and keep me awake, unlike the lessons teachers in high school gave. I also hope to take something away from it all and at the same time get the 4.0 (or at least something extremely close to it, since it’s usually hard to be completely perfect in everything).
My first week of school went well. I like my professors for the most part, and I have met some interesting, new people. It’s nice to be able to think during school, it’s a phenomenon I did not experience throughout high school. For the first time in a long time, my schoolwork is actually intriguing, and I want to be at school. It’s a nice change, hopefully it stays this way.
wow first week of college is already over! lol well in my opinion id say that my first week was pretty good. so far i like my classes and schedule, and just the fact that i am in the city makes going to school that much more interesting. id say that like a few other ppl who have commented earlier that i also got the impression that college isnt to different from high school, or at least my school, its crowded and very diverse. but the major difference is of course that it isnt free anymore and the prices on those books…unbelievable!! if only the we cud borrow books for the whole year and then return them at the end as we did in hs.. so far i like the vibe of baruch and am definitely happy with my decision to come here. the one thing that i am being forced to learn during my time in college is my time management.. cant get away wit doin everythin last minute nd gettin an A anymore lol in general im just ready to broaden my horizons and experience new things, college is a fresh new chapter and i am hoping to make it an interesting one.
My first week of college was difficult mainly because of how hectic it was finding the books and keeping myself interested in the classes that seem very boring except for philosophy, but maybe that was just the first week. hopefully it will get better. it was pretty much like high school except everything is left on you and nobody is telling you what to do. thats not a very good thing for me because i like to procrastinate and am very lazy as you can see i wrote this at 10:30 at night on the day it is due as i am doing my homework for other classes. but i’ll get used to it, hopefully.
My first week of school was pretty good. I still don’t see much difference between high school and college, although I did get a lot more homework. But I expected it from college and don’t mind it a lot. What annoys me is the price of book. My professors are all right.; some are more interesting than other. I like my schedule, except for 2 hour break every day…
The first week of school was ridiculously hectic!! I had to get my schedule changed and there was some massive confusion. But I feel like I have some control now. I don’t feel too overwhelmed thankfully. I think it is too early to tell if I like it or not so I guess I’ll see….
The first week of school was strange. I got the feeling that this is supposed to be important and life changing but I feel as if it was just more of the same. Sitting in classes, listening, not doing much. Most of the professors seems nice enough and the workload is fine for now.
First week of college? Other then having to sit through one particular horrible professor’s so called “lesson”, It was a decent experience. Workload isn’t as tough as I had expected, for now anyway. All the more reason for us all to GET THAT 4.0!
The first week of school was interesting because I get to learn a lot about my teachers. I usually study the format of my classes in the first weeks of school and my classes seem structured simple enough for me to pass. Many of my classes don’t seem to be fun, but I didn’t expect them to be so it’s okay. Most of my professors seem good enough to sit through. The only difficulties right now are text books because the prices are a lot higher than I expected.
Well for me the first week of school was okay. It could have been a little better with nicer teachers but overall its okay. The group thing was hectic with me changing groups like three times already. The book prices are just insane and out of this world. My class schedule is pretty good. the break between classes lets me go play home or go to my friends house and play video games and have enough time to come back. I just hope to do well in class. im not a 4.0 guy, more like a 3.7 or 3.8. Good luch to everyone.
My first week of college was insane!!! So much reading! And the professors all tell you “oh it’s not that much, it’s only about an hour or two”. <– FOR EACH CLASS!!! aside from that classes are awesome and they’re all intertwined somehow. I guess their theme is culture so english is cultural readings, music is about ethnomusicology, and anthropology is self-explanitory. Overall, im trying to focus but it doesn’t seem too hard to get an A. Im reading everything, doing the work, coming to class on time, etc. LETS GET THAT 4.0!!!!!!
I’m pretty much going to say the same thing that everyone else said. Classes are fine. The textbooks are overpriced. I already miss bumming out in high school. I wish i could pass all my classes here the same way I did in high school; doing homework at the beginning of each class before the teacher passed around and copying off each other on tests. But i guess we all have to grow up some time.
My first week was decent. I am surprised the amount of work I’ve gotten from some of my professors already. I have received way more work then my friends who go to SUNY and other schools. Some of my professors aren’t the greatest, but I can deal with them for 3 months or so. The 2 hour breaks i have basically everyday are a bit obnoxious too, but this gives me time to do some of my work. Basically, I hope this semester goes by quickly and I get a 4.0.
My first week was a little hectic with all the books and stuff maybe im just that kind of person. But overall i expected college to be alot different. It is just like highschool and highschool wasnt all that great. All the teachers seem to be interesting so hopefully the class wont be boring. But I dont mind a lecture here and there.
So the first week of college was challenging. Challenging in the sense that it was pretty difficult to stay awake in most of my classes because most of the professors are not very entertaining. However, my philosophy professor ( David Peripelotychik…something like that) was one funny dude. So hopefully that class will be interesting. The prices of those books pretty much left me broke as I spent half a thousand dollars. Thats what you can a business. But anyways everything so far is going fine and hopefully it gets better as days go on.
My first week in college was overall fine. College seems similar to high school except there are no bells to tell us when class starts and end which makes me nervous. The one thing I hate about my schedule is that we have a 2-3 hour break in between classes. The textbooks are extremely overpriced especially those thin paperback books. I am still used to sitting around and not doing anything thus going to class and doing homework is tiring. But I am sure that feeling would disappear once the professors start giving the first official tests/quizzes/speeches.
My first week of school was pretty much ok. College is almost like high school except for the fact that you have to pay for everything (these book prices are kind of cleaning me out). I just don’t know that many people (well, I do but they don’t have the same classes as me so I don’t see them at all anymore) so it was kind of dead and not upbeat; just like the first week of my summer immersion classes. But I’m sure things’ll probably “pick up” as the month goes.
