Today I was shown a glimpse into the life of Mercedes; an artist who died in 2001. She was born in 1913 and the gallery showed her art as she matured. The first piece of art shown was created when she was 9 years old. Slowly but surely, she progressed into her adolescent years, womanhood and to a ripe old age of 88 years old. I was shown many abstract pictures which is how she expressed her art once she reached her young adult phase. The abstract art grew even more abstract as her years progressed; her image of life and people grew distorted as she unravelled the preeminent images of life.
