This workshop was called Color Up Your Future and it happened on November 12th from 12:30 to 2:30. Alfonso Quiroz was the speaker. He was a former councilman and is openly gay. He told us some great stories how he was intern at the White House when Clinton was there. He told us he was one the community workers in Florida during the 2000 election. He went on to work for MTV news and even ran for council in New York. He shed light how being gay has affected him. Also being half Latino. He told to never strive for less and even someone tells you, you can’t than that should motivate you more. I was very interested in hearing his stories about how he was able to prosper in career, even though being average C student throughout college. He also told us his story of coming out to his parents and told people that you should do it when you’re ready. Overall, I believe it was a good workshop and experience.
