Academic Enrichment

On  November 11th, I attended “Play the Basics” at 2:30 in the Academic Advisement Office on the 5th floor of the vertical campus.  This workshop was basically a presentation to help inform you on important programs that are available that can help you in your future.  The program Degree Works was discussed, and I found it extremely helpful.  This program basically allows you to choose a major and then lists all of the classes that are required for you to take  in order to achieve that major.  Toastmasters is also another program that is available.  It is basically a nationwide program that offers services to help students out with their basic job skills, such as: mock interviews , resume writing assistance etc. Finally the STARR Career Planning Center on the second floor helps students get internships and jobs with well known companies such as large banks.  This helps students transition into the working world and also gets them ahead of the rest of the population, by giving them some real-life field experience.
