4. The goal of this workshop was to show how race has influenced the world and this country specifically. Race and ethnicity was a big issue in this workshop especially regarding Obama and Sotomayor and how advances have been made to break racial tension.
5. I selected this particular workshop because I had free time and other people from my block were going. This workshop didn’t take me out of a comfort zone because I learned about this topic in high school and im learning about it now in one of my classes.
6. This workshop met my expectations because form the title of the workshop I knew they were going to talk about Obama and Sotomayor and usually when they’re names are brought up racial and gender issues also arise in the conversation. I would recommend this workshop because it was an interesting discussion.
7.We learned how there are still racial and gender issues in politics. People still vote or look down upon females and African Americans. I realized that even though Obama and Sotomayor made great advances in getting rid of these barriers they still exist. There wasn’t anything really surprising about this workshop because it was mostly factual.
