Freshman Reception 2009

1. Freshman Reception 2009

2. Student Life (it says on this site. people keep saying it is for academic enrichment -_-)

3. Thursday Sept. 17 12:30-2PM

4. The workshop was supposed to be till 2 but thankfully it ended very early. The workshop was an introduction to the Academic Advisement center on the 5th floor in the VC building. The goal was to inform students that this resource was available and there are a group of people to come talk to if they need any help planning their future schedules or deciding a major/minor.

5. On Sept. 17, there were many workshops available but I selected this one. I chose the Freshman Reception because it seemed to me that valuable information would be presented. I was interested in finding out the functions of the Advisement center.

6. This workshop did not really meet my expectations because they said “refreshments will be served” but all the students did not receive refreshments. If they wanted only a limited amount of students, they should not have sent a postcard to our homes advertising the workshop. The staff of the center were nice though and it’s worth learning how they can help students in a variety of ways.

7. I learned where the advisement center was and where I can get forms for declaring a major or a minor. The workshop was not exceptionally interesting though and there’s not that much more I can say about it. Overall, it was an OK experience.
