On October 13th, I attended “The Gallery Tour” at the Mishkin Center at approximately 1:30. This was probably the most attended workshop I have gone to. They’re were huge lines to wait in and then they basically split everyone into groups and gave a very quick, rushed walk through of the gallery. The paintings were what I would call typical gallery photos because there were many of the “typical” fruit bowls and those abstract lines and boxes of colors. They did have a rather large amount of works thought that I must admit. There were also some odd photo pieces with nude shots altered to make them look like landscapes and other scenes. There was a painter that the guide held in high regard by the name of Matter or Mattair that is supposedly a very famous and we were basically given a summary or her reasons for painting what she did. The collection itself is extensive and i would definately recommend students to visit the gallery, partially since the pieces date back to the early 1900’s.
