Building Resumes

This workshop I actually found pretty helpful, as I wish for my resume to be top-notch when I apply for jobs. Basically, this workshop focused on how to create an effective resume to increase your chances of an employer hiring you. I attended this workshop because the fact is, one’s resume is always changing because one is always developing new skills and gaining new experience that might be worth noting. So the speaker is telling us what should be inserted in a resume when you’re building one. You want all your working experiences, so people actually know you’ve done some kind of labor. Also, you want to leave out redundant information and only keep the gist of things you did. As for skills, you want to put the skills that most places would get the most use out of, such as language and computer skills. Also put what you’re good at, because that can determine what position you might receive in a job. So there are alot of factors involved in building a resume. The speaker also was saying that update your resume from time to time. The speaker also told us somethings that shouldn’t be put, such as personal things or things that might come off as a joke, because in a professional environment you have to be serious. I liked this workshop because it expanded my knowledge on resumes, and made me more better and deciding what to put in my resume.
