Resume Writing

On November 17th I attended “Resume Writing” at 12:30 in room 3-215.  This workshop was supposed to be a PowerPoint presentation, however the system had apparently shut down so instead the monitor basically answered questions.  She reviewed the different parts of a resume in order and described what should be in each section.  For instance I learned that bullet points are supposed to be used rather than complete sentences when talking about your previous experience.  She then went on to describe how the Starr Career Development Center has job listing where you can post you resume for recruiters to see.  The Job Fairs are also a great resource, because the recruiters themselves can get a chance to talk one on one with you.  Another interesting Fact I learned was that a Thank You letter is a must, because this shows you care enough to follow up on what you peruse.
