A Doll’s House

It was interesting to see “A Doll’s House” by Henrik Ibsen with my English class because I had never seen the play acted out. I had read it in High School and wasn’t very interested in it until I finally saw it acted out. I am not a big fan of how the story turned out, but I was still entertained by the amazing actors willing to go out in front of all those people and perform.

Play Blog.

Hello everybody!

Blog Entry #3: Play

For English 2100, the class was required to attend a play produced and performed by Baruch Students. this is the first time I have ever been to the theater near the cafeteria. Apart from enjoying the play, I also was introduced to the art part (it rhymes) of Baruch. The walls outside of the theater are plastered with student photgraphy and paintings. This really interested me because along with possibly pursuing English as a major, I also want to balance it with something more visual, like art. All in all, the theater made me think about me options as a college student.

Club Fair Blog.

Hello!

Blog Entry #2: Club fair.

The second seminar I attended was the Club fair. This gave me a chance to get more involved with student life. The club fair housed a variety of clubs ranging from strictly academic to “just for fun.” I actaully rushed for one of the sororitys at the club fair, but I decided to focus more on school since it’s my first semester. However, I wanted to join a club to add to my college experience, so I joined a culture club that does charity work. So far, the club has been a great way to unwind after a long week of school as well as give back to the community.

Library Blog.

Hello everyone!

Blog Entry#1: Library Tour.

The first seminar I attended at Baruch as the Library Tour. Since Charm, Geena, and I got lost on our way to the library (embarassing) , I actaully received a much shorter, condenced tour than the rest of the class, but it was very helpful nonethess. First, our student leader, Michael, showed us all the floors of the library. He showed us important places to remember such as where to borrow laptops and calculators, where to borrow books, and where to obtain a pass for studyrooms. He also informed us of places where we could print and make copies. This tour was very helpful because the week after, I actaully used one of the study rooms for a math test and it was very helpful. Also, as a sidenote, my favorite part of the library is the studypods.

Student Services

I think I had decided to attend this workshop because of a raffle that was introduced during Freshman convocation. In my opinion this workshop was, by far, the most helpful. It definitely did make me aware of all the services offered by Baruch.

There were many different tables that offered information about the different services. I learned that we could be tutored if we need help.

Blood Drive

I went to have my blood drawn and donated back in October. It was an enjoyable experience. The people were nice and since the stick was good I was relieved. I left with about a pint of blood missing from my body and a good feeling that I had helped someone.

Club Fair

I went to the club fair a while back. I wanted to see if there were any clubs that would interest me since I’m not a very club type of person. It was nice going from stall to stall finding out about the different clubs Baruch had to offer. It was fun and caused me to go to a few club meetings myself.

Freshman Reception

Freshman Reception was JAM PACKED. I think this is because everyone received an invite by mail and thought they had to go.  Us students were then separated and broken down into different groups (into different rooms). There was music and drinks.

We were informed of the requirements (credits) and help the school offers. This one was quick.

A Doll’s House

I watched “A Doll’s House” because it was required for English. It turned out to be (surprisingly) pretty good. The actors/actresses were really talented; they were able to properly convey emotion even with the scripts right there in their hands. The setting was left all to the audience’s imaginations.

The story itself wasn’t that great but I really like the theater and hope to go back soon. (Comfy seats!!)

Library Tour

I was with two other classmates on the day of the library tour. When it was time for us to go on the tour, we had no idea how to get to the library. We asked around and finally found it (like, after 20 minutes!!)

By the time we got to the library we were late. We had no idea where the group was so we started climbing stairs and looking around. We scaled just about every floor (exaggeration, i admit) – only to find Michael and the rest on the second (I think) floor. We caught them just in time and was able to personally tour the library ourselves in the process.
