Section APR2C

Last workshop considering it was a delightful one. I went to the Concert and was surprisingly awesome. The people who were playing at the concert made me want to go to more of these free things that they provide. Since they are a non-profit organization, I really didn’t think it would that good. But then again, I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I brought my friend with me and she liked it too. We both had a wonderful time. YOU GUYS SHOULDA CAME!

So the last workshop that i recently went to is this workshop called “Create your own major” and although i still haven’t decided about any major in particular, i guess it was interesting to see what this Weissman school had to offer in terms of it’s majors and the like, and i somewhat have an interest in chemistry, so maybe i could at least give this school some consideration when i have to pick a major for sophomore year.

I happened to stumble upon this workshop a few days ago when i was checking to see what workshops were left. And i have to say: needles are scary stuff, and to have one pricking my arm for however long it takes for the blood drive folk to suck out a pint of my blood is nervewrecking. Hopefully this’ll all be worth it in the end.

About another month ago at around november… 4th?, it was sometime around then. I went to this play called “A Doll House” and from what i could make of it, it just seemed to be about some lady trying to get away with forging a signature of some sort. Personally i’m not too big a fan when it comes to plays as the drama and the (often) exaggerated expressions just feels very…. unrealistic (?). But either way, kudos to the people that were up on stage, and reciting their lines like that. Although no real acting had went on during the play, it’s far better than any acting that i can ever hope to do on stage, with or without lines to read from.

I went to a personal enrichment workshop on October 8th 2009 about managing relationships in college. The instructor told us how to manage time wisely, and talked to us about relationships with friends and really close friends. It was a helpful workshop and i am glad that i went.

I fullfilled the requirements for Community Gobal Awareness workshop. The title of the workshop was called Changing America- Judge Sonia Sotomayer. I attended this workshop on September 22, 2009 at 12:45 to 1:40 at the Vertical Campus Building in room 7-150. It was for a class in history. When I got there, it was hard to find a seat because the room was filled and so some people just stood in the back. They basically had a presentation and we sat and listened to them. Overall, it was kind of interesting because they were not really interactive with their audience.

I attended a workshop for career exploration on Thursday, October 29, 2009. The workshop was called Basic Interviewing Skills and was located at room 1-107. They did a presentation on how to act when you’re at an interview. It’s basic skills on how to “ace” an interview. They talked about the way a person’s supposed to dress, meaning you can’t just walk in with holes in your clothes or just your regular pair of jeans. They also taught us that your handshake had to be firm and not wobbly. Overall, I already knew most of the things they taught because I’ve been to interviews before and my high school prepped me for this during my senior year. Still, I learned a couple of new things that interested me. This workshop reminded me that every little thing counts and it was fun to attend because I was thinking about working again.

I haven’t been to a play in a while but when i saw A doll’s house which was less than an hour i was glad i went to the play. It was about a married woman who was sick of living as other peoples doll. She wanted to live an independent life so she went away from her family so she can be adventurous. I would recommend this play to others

Library workshop nov. 26, 2009

On November 26, I attended a library workshop with my English class. This was an important workshop because we learned a lot about reliable sources and where to find them for our research paper coming up. It was a bit long, but definitely worth it. We also learned about finding books in CUNY libraries, and how we could borrow them from any CUNY school.
