K. Johnson- Basic Interviewing Techniques

On October 29, 2009, I attended my Career Exploration workshop called “Basic Interviewing Techniques.” During the two-hour presentation, I learned about the proper etiquette for interviewing, especially when dressing and giving a handshake. I learned these things in high school, but it was nice to get the lesson in a different setting. I was forced to conduct icebreakers with people I did not even know. It was a workshop that was both informal and fun. The info that I got out of it will definately be used for the rest of my life. We can all do well in college, but when we get to the interviewer’s office for a job we suddenly have to tap into our communication skills. Overall, it was a great workshop that was conducted by the famed Starr Career Development Center. I definately recommend the block to check it out- not only because it was educational but it’s also a requirement to get access to the SCDC!
