Academic Enrichment – Advisement Orientation

9/17/09 – No part of the orientation brought the word ‘workshop’ to mind.  It is true that students were there just to get their notebooks signed and leave, but that is because there was nothing set up in the office to look at.  I thought it was going to be a nice, organized presentation that lasted about maybe fifteen minutes, with a well-planned speech by an academic adviser/ representative.  This workshop did not reach out to the students in the least.  I picked up some pamphlets and talked briefly with an adviser, so it would not have been a total waste of time.  But again, this was just my own initiative and nowhere was there any directions or announcements about what we should do when we’re there.  On the bright side, the adviser I finally managed to talk to was very helpful and told me how I can set up an appointment.
