Managing Relationships in College

I went to personal enrichment workshop on last thursday. I went there met Hong and Lai Ching in the room where the staff guard the door for later-comer. I listen to their stuff where they talk about family, friend, intimate relationship and friendship that help you in future career in baruch after the graduation. I learn alot of information like how to keep contact and be friendly with certain people and how to get connect with professor and Teacher Assistant for future reference of recommendation letter… I think it will be good thing to come to college on every thursday to have club activities and study in library.

It was good to spend time with other people while we discussed about managing relationship in college session. Now I had attend 4th enrichment workshop so far. I am planning to attend library workshop as career exploration next thursday..

Case Vignette #1

In case #1, there is guy named Ron that was late to his Psychology class and decided cut. Then when he asked for the syllabus from a student he decided not to look at it so he didn’t do the required homework that was due the following class. When he told the teacher that he didn’t have the hw because he wasn’t there he got a zero.

My group and myself discuss about whether the Ron is deserve for that grade or not. We all agree on the fact that he deserve the grade, because he didnt show up as his will. That should tell him not to do that action anymore, but if he dont understand, then he should be more focus and reorganize his mind. YOu still could go to class after 30 min late, even though that is too late, but worse than not going at all. This is not high school anymore, students must have their own responsibility to care. It is their business whether they show up for the class, but we should not try to do that in real world of Baruch.

I learnt many thing as this example shows, and i hope everyone must realize the reality of college from high school. I really need to manage my time,,, and i am crushing to bottom…

Freshman Reception

I went to Freshman Reception in the Center for Academic Advisement only because my friend say it was mandatory for freshman to go. I didnt get to meet my friend in the building, but i met someone else. I hangout with that girls that i wasnt very friendly of that time. There were like 200s of freshman arrived in the building for the event, as people get to grow bigger,  office let them out early.  We got the folders of pages that was written for minors. The information of minors were very helpful to me, because we have to chose by sophmore.

That was good to go, because if i didnt go, i was wasting my time in house doing nothing. I should come out to the city more often, for any of matter like enrichment workshops or club activities. Today was great, to meet someone i didnt know before and get a good informations that need in my career.

Library Tours

We went to library for tour on some monday in the week. I dont remember exact day of library tour with my freshman seminar class. We went around the most of library and basic structure and resources. I went to library almost twice a day before we had tour, so it wasn’t much helpful for me to go. Though i learnt new thing, and get along with my newest friend in my classmate..

I think library is very useful of sleeping, doing homework, researching, and studying….  I should use them more often as possible.

Club Fairs

On Thursday, I went to the Club Fair in the main gym with my friends. When i reach the hallway to main gym, i regret of coming earlier, because the hallway was filled with crowds of people who were waiting for scanning id to get in the main gym itself. I met one of my classmate there and start to have talk with him, we move to different line of people and that leads us to go in earlier than my original lines of people. My friend know which club she want to join before going into club fair, though we look over almost every club representation. I sign up for few honor society, wall street club, accounting clubs, and some clubs for Koreans… such as KSA and KSS…

One of the club i was interest was Wall Street club, and eventually i attend their general meeting once right now.  The clubs that i join were great advantages on me and my future career. I think more clubs will be helpful than no clubs participation.

Study Abroad Fair and my experiences…

I went to Study Abroad Fair with my friend for purpose of getting credit of enrichment workshop when i step to the room. While I look around and see many Study Abroad program, I was interest of many programs where they send you to certain country to study. But one thing that disappoint myself was the requirement for the program.

You must be a sophmore to go to any program of study abroad. But it was good to know and know about the information, that helps me to prepare for the study abroad program when i become sophmore. I was happy to get credit for enrichment workshop and get information of the programs. All of good stuff that leads to time that i spent in fair.

Academic Enrichment

I feel upset and disappointed when I receive my first exam grade on psychology because it did not reach my standard. I think it really concerns about my time management. I always wait until the last day to review the materials and that’s why I always got low grades on my tests. I think I need to change my habit and attitude, and I hope the next exam I can do better. In high school, students do not spend to read the textbooks, but in college is different. I have to read the books and understand the general idea. In order to achieve my academic success, I have to well-prepared for the materials, and have my own schedule. Sometimes when I have my own schedule, I could not stick with it. I am little frustrated. Hope I can do well on my other tests. Good Luck for everyone!!!!!!!!!

Study Abroad Fair

At first I wasn’t so interested in the Study Abroad Fair because I thought you have to wait through out the entire two and an half hour time. But since all my friends went there, I decided to go too. After all, the fair was alright, and there was a lot of places you can go this Winter. I even met my old High School Japanese Teacher, and she told me she is going to teach for the Japan Study Abroad program.

I thought it would be nice to spend my winter in Japan and learn something from my former teacher, but sadly, it was disappointing. Soon, I noticed that you must at least be a Sophomore to qualify for Study Abroad programs, and being a freshman like me; not a chance. Now I regret going to the fair because it made me feel stupid, it is almost the same as you finding a lottery ticket that worth money, but you are too young to exchange it for money.
