Case#2

I was assign to case 2 when we were discussing about the different scenarios.  In my case, its about a girl name Sophia, who had a group project but because her group member can only work on weekends, and she has to go to work on weekends, she decided not to participate.  Meanwhile, her group members tried to contact her through phone, txt, email, facebook, but she didn’t response to any of them, and she ask the professor whether she can do an individual project because her group is “hard to work with”, but the professor rejected her suggestion, and encourage her to work with her members. In the end, Sophia decided to drop the class, and our group believed that her action is extremely selfish, although she need to work, she could have at least reply the phone, email, and tried to work it out with her group members.

case #1

On the first day of class Ron was late to class and then he decided to cute class. So later on he saw his friend and asked for a copy of the syllabus. Ron was like a normal freshmen student who don’t pay much attention to little details. So when he came to the next class session he wasn’t aware that there was homework. At the end Ron talked with the professor that he wasn’t aware that there was any homework. Of course the professor would tell Ron that he got a zero for homework. So Ron just stormed away instead he should of been nice and ask for make up or extra credit. I though that Ron was just another typical high school student who thinks its still a game.

hello everyone

In case #1, Ron was late to his psychology, and he decided not to go because of the lateness. Later on he asked his friend for syllabus and did not read the whole thing. He forgot to do his assignment on the syllabus. The next class, when the professor collect the homework, he said he was absent on that day and did not get the syllabus and the professor give him the syllabus and gave him a zero for the first assignment.
Our group think that Ron should be responsible for his work andd checked the blackboard everyday. Professors do not have responsibilities to remind you for the homework. Students are not high students any more. They are in college.

case vignette #2

Last week, my group was discussed about case #2. Sophia is so irresponsible of her project and her group. She never meet the group outside of the class. She doesn’t reply the group members any phone ,email and Facebook.   Also, she doesn’t complete her part of project, and she speaks to her professor about her group was “hard to work”.I think it’s not her group members hard to work: it’s she hard to work. Be a part of group, she need participate on project with her group members. Even though she need to work, she need to take time to get together with them. Every person has personal time, but the others can sacrifice their time, why she can not spend a few hours with them do project? She is so selfish. She just care her own time ,and she doesn’t care her work. It’s all her false, but she thinks the others are wrong. I think she need really care the others mind, not only about herself.

Case Vignette #2

Two case vignettes were discussed during the last class session. I was assigned to case #2 along with few other group members. Coincidentally, the case was about the responsibilities as a member in a group project. As a group, we agreed that Sophia is an irresponsible person. Sophia never picks up her phone calls or answers the emails that her group mates sent her. Furthermore, when her group mates arranged to meet up on the weekends, she demands that she will not give up “her time”. Also, Sophia uses the excuse that she has to work on the weekdays and because of that she can’t find the time to get together with her group mates.

I think that what Sophia needs is a better time management and be more responsible. It is understandable that working while taking classes on the weekdays may be a little difficult to arrange a meeting with the group members. However, Sophia has the weekends to make up for it. Sophia at least should give up some of her time for the sake of the project, if she really cares about it that is (doesn’t seems like she really care much). Her group members are also giving up “their time” to meet up with Sophia on the weekends. In brief, Sophia needs to grow up and stop being selfish and think for herself only.

Case Vignette #2

In college, students are very important to manage their time well. Especially, students who are working and studying same time.  When they have to do two things same time then organizing the time is very important. In this case it shows how Sophia is not able to manage her time. Also, college is not only managing the time well, also able to communicate with other people and do group work. It is very important to communicate well with people and work out together. This case #2 shows Sophia’s action toward her college life.

Sophia has a group project with other people, but it is too hard for her to meet other members to do their group project. Because, she works 30 hours a week also takes other classes.  The group decide to meet in the weekend to do the project. But,  Sophia doesn’t answer her phone and e-mail at all. Because, Sophia doesn’t want to waste her weekend. When group ask Sophia to do her own part, she refuses and decide to do her own project. But, professor says “No”. After that Sophia just not show up in presentation and drop the class.

This case shows that Sophia  is being irresponsible for her work. Even though she work and study same time, it is her job to manage her time well. Same time it is not only her individual work, it is group work. Because of Sophia, group members are the one who get affective. There are people who can not able to do group work, but it is very important to communicate with people. In group work, students can learn from each other more. This case shows that responsible is very important same time able to mange the time well also able to work with group of people.

Hello

Hi, everyone LOL

I’m very exicted to post my opinion on the board. Anyways, I was in the group that was assinged to

examine the behavior of a guy named Ron. He was late on his first day of class so he decided not to go.

He didn’t make any attempt to find out what the professor say in the class. He got the syllabus from his

friend but he didn’t even take glance of it. On second day of class came, he managed to come to

class on time. At the end of the class, the instructor collected the homework, which Ron obviously

didn’t know about. The instructor gave him a copy of syllabus but told him that he is going to get

zero for the assignment. Ron protests, thinking that the instructor’s decision was unfair and unjust, and

just walks out of the classroom.

I think that Ron is a very irresponsible and disrespectful student. The instructor gave him a fair grade.

He deserves a zero. He didn’t make any effort to find out what they did in the class and

have homework or not. And also, even if he was late, he should have went to class.

Case Vignette #1

In case #1, it talks about a student named Ron that was late to his Psychology class and decided not to go at all. Then when he asked for the syllabus from a student he decided not to look at it so he didn’t do the required homework that was due the following class. When he told the teacher that he didn’t have the hw because he wasn’t there he got a zero.

My group and I had discussed and agreed that the student got what he deserved because this is not high school anymore where you are given breaks. If that had happened the real world, he would’ve been fired on the spot so its a life lesson telling you to stop being lazy. Even if he was 30 minutes late he could’ve still attended the class because you are allowed only 2-3 absences until you are dropped from the class and 2 lates equal 1 absence. He is the one that is at fault because he had the choice to do the work but instead lied to the professor by saying he didn’t recieve the syllabus and thus earning himself a grade of zero.

Reservation Blues

Sherman Alexie’s “Reservation Blues” is somewhat similar to my life. One of the themes of the book is to  always remember your culture and value it. Since I was born here in America, it’s harder for me to see why they want me to do the things they want me to do or to understand why I can’t go out as much as the other kids in my school did. When I started to become a teenager, I started to disagree with what my parents demanded of me because I became really ignorant of where they originated from and China itself. The book shows how Victor and Junior lost interest in their Native American culture. They would rather be in a more modern environment than an old reservation. Right when my parents sensed that I was going to eventually become like Victor and Junior (on the way of completely forgetting chinese values), they sent me on a trip to China last summer.

When I got to China, I expected nothing better than what America had (this was when I was narrow-minded). However, I realized that there were a lot of things I should appreciate. After a month in China, I learned that family values are very important even after college. On the other hand, America praises independence when entering college. Hardwork, respect, and education are also more valued there than it is here in America. After that experience, I never forgot what I learned. Reservation Blues reminds me of that effecting experience of my life. If I had read this book before going to China, I would’ve sooner looked at my cultural values differently.

Sophia…

During class, we were given case Vignette number 2. It talks about this selfish girl named Sophia who refused to cooperate with her group members. When she was requested by other members to meet up during the weekends, she claimed that she can do whatever during her free time. She also diliberately ignored their messages and emails. At the end, she droped the class without saying a word, leaving her group in misery.

It was mentioned that Sophia worked 30 hours a week. In other words, she actually had a legitimate excuse to tell her group. I believe that if she at least learns to open up a little and share whatever her crcumstance was with her group, things would be alot easy to deal with.  I am pretty sure that her group won’t penalize her or anything if during the weekends, she absoulutely had to work to support her family. All in all, Sophia’s situation maybe understandable; however, she was wrong on her own part for not responding to the messages and emails she received.
