I attended this conference about racism which was recommended strogly by our history professor. The besy part of workshop was that it dealt with some good questions from the students from differen ethnic groups.I myself is Asian-and thus a part of minority and racism.I did not have to face this situation because I am new to US but I can connect myself to the situation. There were other professors as well partcipating in the speech.Tyhe problem was we couldnt hear much because the room was small and over-populated.we had to sit onĀ the foor and our views were blocked.Thi sworkshop was also very long. One problem with such workshop is I feel uncomfortable to talk about racism. The more we talk about it,the more I feel that we are screaming to the world that we are different.I think everybodi belongs to a group-that is how God made us.We should be proud of our features and respect other’s.As far as I have known from history, racism is just using the difference to gain political and economical advantages by some people.I do not think our generation really differentiates. So I would really want to stop discussing such issues and educate people more. Most of all,if we are aware of who we are,no one can humilate us.Still,I am new in USA and my view point night not apply practically to the situation. One thingĀ discussed in the conference that I really liked was-we do not want to sign in forms that asks to indicate out ethinicity. Our name and other details should be enough for indentification. When I attended the conference I did not know it was a workshop but later on when I knew,I got stamped by our professor.
