The personal relationship workshop was about networking and interacting with other people. It is important to know as much people as possible because we might need the connection for a job in the future. It was a very crowded workshop and a lot of people were sitting everywhere but I am glad I got through it. We were told to introduce each other and start a conversation. I was very shy at first since it was very awkward to be forced to do something especially meeting other people. I prefer meeting them naturally from a class. The lady there also gave us a lot of tips that I found to be useful and hopefully I can use them to get through the next four years.
Resume Writing Workshop
So this workshop was the final one that I had to go to and luckily the whole week had career planning. For some reason I got the room number for the workshop wrong and ended up going to a room where coincidently there were 5 others who got the room number wrong as well. We ended up sitting there for a good 30 minutes before someone realized that we were in the wrong room. 3-215 seems like 3-125 right? So then we all get to the right room and see that the workshop had already started, luckily they still allowed us to go in. The actual workshop itself was really helpful, just because I have yet to make my resume yet. The most important thing I took away from that would be the fact that experiences prior to college no longer counts. I never knew that, and it kinda threw me off because now I pretty much have nothing. Overall it was a really helpful workshop I think.
Student life- Freshmen reception
The freshmen reception was the most hectic workshop ever. Over a thousand of people came but there were only a couple hundred of seats so everyone had to be separated into rooms. The workshop basically explained what freshmens need to in college to succeed. The two presenter there was very brief and it didn’t take more than twenty minutes to wrap everything up. It was very unorganized so I can’t blame them for that. Also they handed out folders for freshmen with everything they need to do but I never received since they only made a couple hundred of copies and not a couple of thousand. This was the first workshop I went to and it wasn’t the experience I was looking for but at least I got stamped. It was during the third week of school so I was not aware of how the whole workshop thing would work out but it turned out fine. In conclusion the first workshop was not the best but I won’t penalize them for it.
Personal Enrichment/Student Life Workshop?
At first I thought “Your Life, Your Money” was a personal enrichment workshop but I found out they changed it later to a student life workshop. The first part of the workshop was watching a movie and then there was a discussion panel with the people in the movie. Basically, it was about learning to handle credit cards and saving money. They gave everyone a book and a copy of the movie but I am not sure if I am going to read it or watch the movie again. Overall, the workshop was pretty helpful.
Club Fair
When I went to the Club Fair, it was very unorganized and all of the clubs weren’t set up yet. A couple of minutes later, It got very packed so I left. It was very unorganized and there were too much people in one place. I didn’t even find any clubs that were of interest to me.
Club Fair
When I went to the club fair it wasn’t as bad of an experience as the first workshop was. I went with a bunch of my high school friends. It was also really packed so it was kind of hard for all of us to stay together. I’m pretty sure we all joined the Italian club, and we have yet to go to a single meeting. I get constant emails about them too, but I just have no time.
First Workshop
When I went to my first enrichment workshop a few months ago it was a terrible experience. The entire area was completely packed out with fellow freshman trying to get their papers and booklets signed. As soon as it was my turn to get my booklet signed, the lady who was signing the books just up and left and no one else was signing booklets. The refreshments looked gross. I came back to the same area next week where one of the ladies working there signed my booklet. An unpleasant start.
Career Exploration
I went to the career exploration workshop on writing a resume. I thought it was pretty boring, since I knew some of the information. Alot of people were there, and they didn’t let people who were late come in. I thought the presenter explained the information clearly, but I really wasn’t paying attention.
Gallery Tour
I went to the Gallery tour for the Arts at Baruch workshop in October. I thought it was very interesting since I am also a photographer. The curator was trying to discuss each piece but everyone was being loud and just wanted to get the signature.
Gallery Tour
Blahhh I attended this event sometime in October and it was boringggggggg.. Not to fond of Art, i guess because I could never really draw but I managed to pass Art class. Anywho we just bascially took a tour of different pictures. I dont really like looking at Art for some reason it bores me. But i am also always open to trying something new, so taking the gallery tour was what i had to do. It wasnt that bad just not my cup of tea..
