  1. Baruch has one of the best campuses being directly in the middle of city. I like being in the city and being able to feel the interactions of business people everyday. In high school, we had just one building in which everyone was forced into. It was a mad crowd everyday just to get to class. It is the same in Baruch too but less pushing and screaming. During my first few weeks here, I have experienced many moments already. One embarrassing moment that happened was that I had forgot that I had to swipe in to get in the building and I forced myself into the turnstile causing a commotion. One bad experience i had was when i lost my ID card and my monthly metro card in school. I was really disappointed when i couldn’t find it cause it was just moments ago that i realized it was gone. Baruch has an amazing technology center. However, we need a bigger one because when it comes to club hours or lunch time, the computer labs are full. Not one empty seat to be found. I hope they can get more computers for the abundant amount of students!

So far life baruch isn’t too bad. I got used to the school abnd being in college a lot faster than I thought I would, although I still miss high school. I have made new friends here and I still keep on close contact with my high school friedns which I am very happy about. My calsses aren’t too bad either; so far everything is fine. There is a lot of reading for classes but that’s just the way it is. I hope for my continued success and good luck to all the other freshman this year.

  3. 1. Now that we are in college it is now our responsibility to get htings done. Many times in high school we relyed on teachers to assist us and guide us throughout the year. I also think that there is not much homework but doing it helps alot in preparing for exams.
There is also ALOT of note taking!!!

    2. when i began the first few weeks, i didnt get the express elevator thing down pact and a couple of times i would take the elevator fo r no reason and end up on a floor where i didnt have a class. Now i have the hang of htings and know where im going.

    3. Some teachers have the tendency of going off topic and i feel that it doesnt help us much and it seems that we have to pay attention to everything because we never know what is going ot show up on the exams.

    1. The difference between high school and college is the giant gaps between classes. Sometimes i got nothing better to do then to sit outside of class waiting for class to start.
    2. I had a very embarrassing moment i think the either the first or the second day of class. You know when u swipe in to get into the school, the barcode is suppose to be facing toward you, when your swiping, well being a freshmen and all, i was swiping the id card the wrong way. I was swiping over and over wondering why it wasnt working. A security guard that was watching me, told me to turn my card around and said “you’re a freshmen, arent you?” It was so embarrassing.
    3. The only complain is that the Baruch is so small. Mainly all the classes are in ONE building.

There’s a big difference in homework checking from the professors as it all depends on the students. They don’t care but us as students do because we need them for midterms. I also noticed how we need to study constantly. I agree with Marino how there’s not much of a relationship between u and the professor. i’ll write more later

Well so far baruch life has been going pretty well. I haven’t really messed up anywhere as of yet but I’m just waiting to mess up on something. However, Baruch life is good. Unlike high school, I have a lot more resources at my disposal and I have the time to do things that I need to do unlike in high school.
I haven’t really had any awkward embarrasing moments as of yet, but I guess hugging a girl that looked like your friend but isn’t is somewhere on that list. It’s not my fault!
And finally I’d love to compain about tests. Why are they always in the same week? It’s ridiculous! I like having a little down time from one test to another; but you just can’t have everything.

  7. 1) Some differences I’ve noticed between HS and college include the length in time of classes, a more distant relationship between students and professors, the amount of freedom a student has in terms of HW and in terms of using laptops in class for example, and the level of maturity in the classrooms. In the first few weeks every student in our block kept to themselves but gradually more students are interacting with each other.
    2) On the first day I had to attend Freshman Seminar I went through the double doors on the 3rd floor instead of reading the sign and entering the section of the 3rd floor that was labeled “Freshman Seminar.” After circling the 3rd floor three times and thinking that I was in the Twilight Zone, I exited the double doors to find the sign that said “Freshman Seminar.”
    3) One complaint I have is that the Newman Vertical Campus should have been built with more windows so that we can look at the skyline or get some fresh air and daylight in the classrooms.

  8. Hey so baruch life so far has been intresting the differnces from hs that i noticed is that studing is a big part of college and im having trouble getting used to it. Also there are no bells and some teachers let u go early which is great. A bad experience that i had was having to study for two tests in one and one of those tests i found out about a day before. Something to complain about is that some professors can go off track and leave u stuck on the day of the exam.
