A New Life at Baruch

There are only a few word that I can say about my first week at Baruch; different and interesting. Different because of many reasons:

  1. I’m used to understanding the dialect or accent of my teachers.
  2. I don’t know what to do with myself during long breaks between classes….besides searching for extra-curricular activities.
  3. I have the freedom to go anywhere and do anything I please.
  4. My money goes QUICKLY.

Those are just some of the differences but lets talk about the first one. The first time I went to my English class, I meet my Irish…. I think… professor. My first thought was, “Why is this Irish dude teaching English?” but that was just me being stupid and ignorant.

Anyway, as the class progressed, he spoke and spoke and spoke. I couldn’t understand anything he said. Then he read a short story to us. As I looked around, everybody had the same face I had….puzzled and confused. What made it worse was he said that we had to write a one page paper in the irony in the story. This forced me to buy the book THAT DAY, read the story and write the paper. After a while, I’ll get used to him but it’s taking a good while and it’s coming bit by bit.

That’s the biggest issue for my first week at Baruch.

Hope I didn’t bore anyone

Duces….

How are you understanding that teacher now? What are you doing during your breaks? Are you still in search of the perfect activity?
