Clubs and stuff. . .

There are many clubs at Baruch. One good way to get information about these clubs was to go to the Club Fair. Since I am already in a club, I just went to help promote it. The club I’m a part of is MPAG (Music and Perfoming Arts Group). We dance to hip-hop and reggae music. I thought that the Club Fair was a lot of fun, and, since I plan on joining more clubs in the future, I definitely plan on going to the next ones. Joining a club was a good way to meet new people.

Library Workshop

This workshop was about how to research and good tools to use on the internet. There were some things I knew were good websites to use, such as governemtn website (.gov). There were also some websites I never heard of. One website the speaker recommended was the Internet Public Library (www.ipl.org). One thing I did know, but do not like, is the use of Wikipedia. Too bad Wikipedia is a big “no no” :-(. I like Wikipedia.

Mediating Conflict

This workshop was a very interactive workshop. The speakers was very good when it came to keeping the attention of her audience (and so were some of the students :-\ haha). This subject is very good when you need a way to resolve a problem in the most mature, non-violent way. If you are having difficulty going about confronting this problem, you can ask the “middle man” (mediator) for help on ways to resolve the issue.

Perspectives on Immigration

I thought that this workshop was one of the more interesting workshops I’ve been to. There are different “theories” many have about immigrants, and there are many immigrants that do not fit or disprove the theories. These theories are about how the way the child is raised affects the future when it comes to getting education, jobs, and money. It all depends on what type of environment the child was enculturated into. One way I can use what I learned in Anthropology class :-).
